I was in a funk yesterday, and I think I realized why – and no it has nothing to do with the vote today. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Maynard’s death. We have photos of him placed around the house, and I want to get a life-sized cardboard cutout made of him on the top of the refrigerator.

It has been a tough year, even with Lucretia joining the family. Maynard added a certain something that was just “right.” We always would joke that he was the glue holding everything together – his loving personality took over whenever someone needed comfort. Roscoe was acting a bit needy and out of sorts yesterday as well. I don’t necessarily think he knew the specifics of the day, but I want to believe that he felt something. He sure spent a lot of time following me around wanting to lay near me.
Vote: It’s the Most Important Election of Our Lifetime™!
Anyhow, today is the day that everyone is supposed to go vote. The biennial “Most Important Election of Our Lifetime™,” right? Well I don’t believe any of that nonsense. Sure, paying attention to local issues is important, but how can anyone claim they are the one who should rule over you? Personally, I don’t think anyone can decide what is best for someone other than that individual themselves.
Everyone seems to hold democracy as sacrosanct, but as I said before, voting is violence. It is one person supporting another to rule over their neighbors. And these days, it seems most people don’t vote for someone who holds similar values, but rather they vote against someone who does not. Does someone have the right to rule you just because more people support them than the other candidate?

Remember, 9 out of 10 people at a gang rape voted for it to happen.
So I finally decided what I was doing with my ballot. I made selections on the local issues, but decided that I too would vote against policies I don’t support. So I didn’t vote for any Republican. Nor did I vote for any Democrat. In the partisan elections, I voted for a Libertarian (not endorsed by the party) and an Independent, and when a non-duopoly option was not available, I didn’t make a selection.
I used my vote, or lack of one, as my protest. It was my vote of no confidence in any of the clowns purporting the ability/authority to rule over me. This time around there were only two elections with non-duopoly candidates, but I think I’ll stick with this strategy moving forward – as long as I feel I can support the non-duopoly candidates.
Anyhow, I have better things to do than devote any further thought toward people who think they are our betters…
