Swinging moods that change, calmness to deranged…

Yesterday was busy. I didn’t get much sleep Monday night and woke early yesterday morning as well so I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day.

Monday evening I spoke with a friend of mine who apparently spent a week in jail. His baby-momma physically attacked him and then spun a story to the police that he was going to kill her then himself so they took him away where he got to spend time in the psych wing before “regular” jail.

Now this is one of the most level-headed guys I know. We’ve had long conversations about the gal and I’d often compare her to CJ (old timers, remember her?). CJ was a gal I dated off and on during the first iteration of this site through 2012, and while she was the subject of many posts, she was never as malicious and crazy as this bitch. Even though we broke up and both moved on, we are still on friendly terms and stay in touch. But this bitch is on another level – she fabricated the threat and suicidal statement likely in a bid to better he chances at gaining full custody of the child, and apparently had filed for custody back in July while still cohabitating with my friend and planning family vacations as he was blissfully unaware. Fortunately for him, he took pictures not only of himself and the damage she did (scratches and bruises) but also of her showing that he hadn’t fought back and harmed her. It’s going to be an uphill battle, at least for a while, but I think he will ultimately prevail over this whole mess.

On to yesterday’s business… Since it hasn’t rained sufficiently in some time, I had to water the clover field so there was a lot of hoofing it back and forth out in the field to move and set the sprinkler. Because I have to run a hose so far, the pressure is really low so it didn’t spray very far… which then necessitated several manual repositionings of the sprinkler. I did end up ordering a garden hose pressure booster pump and a sprinkler mounted on a tripod to use in the future.

I also had to deal with our septic tank. It had been draining slower than usual and our usual bright green patch in our field (where the drainage occurs) has been brown like the rest. I had been meaning to contact the septic company for a while when fortutiously one of their drivers stopped on our property to ask if he could use our drive to turn around so he could back into our neighbor’s driveway. I mentioned the issue we were having and that there was some maintenance needed and he said it would only take a moment for him to show me what needed to be done to clean out the trap. I did only take a moment for him to open the trap access but when he did, he saw that we were actually backed up quite a bit and that it was almost overflowing. He went off to take care of the neighbors, while I called the main office to officially schedule a visit.

It turned out that the tank itself wasn’t overfilled, but that the trap (last cleaned in 2022) was clogged to the point that it was no longer draining properly. We had him go ahead and pump out the tank anyway and he showed me the proper procedure for cleaning the trap and instructed me that it should be done twice a year. I guess we’ve been pretty lucky that we didn’t have bigger issues before and I was glad he was able to squeeze us in so that could be checked off our list.

Song of the Day: Only by Anthrax

The Greatest Prank Ever Pulled In Space Really Fooled NASA’s Mission Control – “But a moment of levity came on September 10, 1973, and this is how Garriott told the story in an interview with NASA’s Oral History project in 2000.”

Terrifying new details of Canada’s advancing assisted suicide laws… including push to euthanize newborn BABIES – “The demand for euthanasia is so high that doctors who provide it cannot keep up, according to a new report by The Atlantic. Assisted dying, legalized in 2016, now accounts for about one out of 20 deaths in Canada, far surpassing countries where it’s been legal for longer. ” Frankly, if I lived in Canada, I’d probably want to end my own life as well…

“Nobody Has Ever Played This Song”: Bruce Dickinson Plays an Iron Maiden 1984 Deep Cut for the First Time Ever – “With that, Dickinson performed “Flash of the Blade,” which appeared on Iron Maiden’s 1984 album, Powerslave.” This is one of my bucket-list Iron Maiden songs I’d like to hear live – maybe this means it will be in the rotation for their 50th Anniversary “Run For Your Lives” tour.

Highlander Remake Has An Insurmountable Problem – “I’m not here to bury the Highlander remake, but there is simply no reality where it matches up with the 1986 masterpiece.”

Mystery grows after dozens of piles of cremated human remains are found just outside of Las Vegas – “Nevada law doesn’t prohibit a person from scattering ashes on public land, and people also aren’t prohibited from scattering cremated remains.” My theory is that these are unclaimed remains that a funeral home or crematory dumped.

A New Species of Cat Has Been Found in the Andes – “In a remarkable discovery that has captivated the scientific community, researchers have confirmed the identification of a previously unknown wild cat species in the remote highlands of the Andes Mountains.”
