Well, we didn’t go to the city today, and it is all related to a communication breakdown. I assumed the plan was set when first discussed, but we all know what happens when you ASS-U-ME. We now plan to go on Monday. That puts a bit of a damper on my weekend plans (I needed more jars for pickles) but not too badly.
I did run to town today and managed to take care of a bunch of little things. I ordered some Jeep parts, hit the grocery stores (yes, both of them), and then warning lights came on.
My jeep has had an issue for a while that I’ve been trying to chase down for some time. Periodically, the warning lights for my anti-lock brakes and traction control will come on. Usually that happened taking tight turns, but it recently started happening more often. The challenge has been getting a diagnostic run while it was coding to determine what was actually wrong. This time, since I was in town, I drove straight to the shop and left it running.
My mechanic was excited to finally get to the bottom of this as well. We had thought that it was a cable being pulled with a loose connection – based on the system failure happening when making tight turns. Every time I’d bring the Jeep in for service, he’d check for tight cables and loose connections. We now know it is a bad speed sensor.
So I have an appointment next week to have that repaired, and I’ll be glad to have that out of the way. That fault also kills my cruise control, which can be really annoying on road trips (or even a drive to the city).
Anyhow, it’s late so time to do other things…
