Our plant shelf has been installed and it looks amazing! With this addition, we’ll be able to organize everything and keep things much tidier. And the quality is top notch – actual carpentry joints and not just glue and screws like something from IKEA. There are a couple tweaks necessary on a couple pieces, but that should be complete in a day or two.
Even though it is not in it’s final form, the plants are loving their new home. The cats seem to enjoy it as well, since it gives them some “legal” higher ground to perch. The shelves also incorporate a cubby for their litterbox – concealing it and keeping the area clean. With the shelves in place, we were able to remove two plant stands and a table, making the area feel much more spacious.
We are now in full reorganization mode – with the freed up space in the front room, my wife is eager to do more decorating and work on quality of life improvements. The contractor will also be turning our coat closet into a proper pantry, and finished a shelf for the bathroom. He also made a slide-out tray for us to convert the lower bathroom cupboard to house another litterbox.
I need to reorganize my office – that is a priority now that I have the desk replacement and the boy is gone. I can empty several boxes of things into the drawers which will free up space on my shelves in there. That in turn can take other “clutter” from around the house and organize it in a single room. Removing the “clutter” from common areas will make my wife happier, and as everyone knows: happy spouse, happy house.
Anyhow, that office isn’t going to organize itself…
