I think we figured out what Lucretia was screaming about the other night – When I was watering the catnip pots, which were placed outside the screened area on the deck until they grow big enough for the cats, I noticed several paw prints indented in the soil. I’m now pretty sure that our neighbor’s cat, Harry, came by for a visit. He used to hang out on our porch at night, periodically moving around to set off the motion light to attract moths to hunt. I’m pretty sure he was prowling about, discovered the ‘nip, but was run off by a ferocious little ball of fur.
Yesterday was pretty low-key, but I did spend several hours prepping and smoking the “Award Winning Philley Bites” – bacon-wrapped, jalapeno chicken skewers. I ended up needing to rush the cooking time a bit (so they got less smoke than usual), and didn’t marinade the chicken overnight, so they came out a bit dryer than they usually do, but they still came out pretty tasty. So tasty, my wife and I decided to have some of the leftovers for breakfast, rather than our usual eggs.
It is going to hit the 80s today so we are taking the boy to the local pool for an hour or so. Hopefully that will give him a chance to meet some other kids around here as well as get some swim time in. So on that note…
