While making my tea this morning I heard birds – a lot of them. They were right outside the kitchen window chattering away in the enclosed garden area. I peeked out and what I saw startled me a bit – there were at least a dozen birds hanging out, chattering away and sharing the morning “bird gossip” (at least, that is what I assume they were chattering on about). The two fat robins (that love to taunt the cats when they are on the deck) were hanging out sitting in a pot among some of my peppers. Numerous smaller birds were all there, and what I think is a sparrow was pulling at my basil. It seems they were uprooting my basil plugs not for the plants themselves but to get at the water under the plugs, so I guess a birdbath will need to be installed sometime this summer.
Lucretia also surprised us last night. Since the arrival of the boy, she’s been hiding out in our bedroom during the day, and sneaking to hide out on the deck once the sun goes down. Around midnight last night we heard a screech and went to check on her. It seems one of our neighbors’ cats wandered to close and Lucretia was having none of that. We coaxed her inside and she was one big puffball, with what looked like a squirrel tail. So we apparently now have a guard cat.
We took it pretty easy yesterday – I was hurting pretty bad and hadn’t really had a chance to really rest. Today is better, but we are taking another easy day today. I’m sore again from the morning gardening chores, but they are done, and I can now rest a bit.
And since it was a chill day yesterday and today, I’m going to keep this short and address the emails that I still haven’t gotten to…
