It was a long and busy weekend. Saturday and Sunday were mostly prep days and Monday I was up early to start smoking a couple tritips for a small gathering. Since I always cook big, even when it is just the two of us, we invited a few neighbors over to hang out on the new deck and chat. It was a good evening and quite enjoyable – and we finally got to meet the husband of one of the neighbors (he’s a bit anti-social like I am).
The toads are here! Over the past few days while doing the raised bed prep and getting things ready for the season, I’ve been watering the egress window that is now Toad Hollow, and there are at least four of them hanging out down there already. I hope the fence I put up to protect my raised beds from the deer don’t hinder their migration – we, and the cats, enjoy watching them through the window, it’s our Toad TV!.
The fence arrived on Saturday and I need to get that up as soon as I can. The landscapers are coming out tomorrow (and Thursday) and can help put that up, so hopefully I’ll be able to get all the plants in their new homes by or at least over this weekend. The bottle gourd really wants out of it’s little pot and is trying to grab on to anything it can for support – I swear that thing is growing like kudzu.
I still need to respond to emails that I have been too busy to get to. In fact, I slacked so long, my friend even sent another to followup the followup. I’m going to have some downtime next week before my grandson arrives (the calm before the storm?) so I’ll make sure to set some time aside to respond if I don’t get to them before then.
Anyhow, I still need to finish setting up my new desk and office, and Amazon just dropped off a few more things I needed so I best get to it…
