It was a nice, but busy, weekend. It sprinkled a bit Saturday morning, but the clouds quickly parted and the weather has been beautiful since. I transplanted a few more seedlings that were growing out of their peat pods and my order of planters arrived so I also got those filled and seeded; we’re going to use different plants as insect repellent on our deck – catnip, peppermint, and geraniums. I also seeded a couple pots so the hanging catnip baskets aren’t just teasing our furry family members and they will have the opportunity to munch away as they see fit.
I absolutely need to order the fencing to screen in my garden this week. I need to get that set up before putting the plants out where the deer can get to them. Last season, they came through a day or two after I put everything in the ground and I lost a lot to them. I was originally planning on using a system designed for keeping your cats in (and other out), but I may just get bulk screen and pick up posts at the hardware store instead. It would save quite a bit, but I did like the idea of being able to let the cats wander into the garden with me.
We’ve pretty much lost the cats to the deck – they pretty much want to only hang out there and lounge in the sun spots. They have also laid claim to the deck chairs we have and I ended up having to roll an old desk chair out to sit on. I guess I need to also add finding and buying new deck furniture to my “honey-do” list as well.
Anyhow, it is too nice of a day for me to be inside so…
