Skipped a day, had to run to the city and didn’t have time to throw together a quick post before having to leave. Today has been nearly equally chaotic – the Amish contractors are here redoing our deck and arrived early to get started.
You know the stories about Amish “barn raising” gatherings – they really are that efficient. They had the old deck ripped out so fast that I didn’t even get to see much. It was removed and the new joists were in before my wife left for her workout, and by the time she was back they were almost done laying out the new deck – which was finished by the time I got out of the shower. They have the new overhang installed (though will need to return to finish the roofing portion) and are now working on screening in the deck – we’ll be able to lounge out there on a warm summer evening and let our cats join us.
I’ve also got a pot of pasta sauce simmering right now, and I’m already getting hungry from the smell of it. I also decided to plant more of the Sun Sugar cherry tomatoes in the second “seed sushi” and got that finished, so it’s been a busy morning.
But all this isn’t without the downside – with the rushing and chaos of the past few days, the trip to the city yesterday, and just my overall physical health… I am in tremendous pain and feel like I need a complete spine replacement. I suspect some of it is just complete exhaustion, and the fact that I haven’t been able to take an afternoon nap for the past few days.
I think I’m gonna go play dead now…
