Yesterday was a beautiful day, until it wasn’t. I spent a couple hours outside, and started moving a wood pile (from a felled tree) from the middle of our field to the side so it’s not in the way when it is time to till. It stayed overcast but warm, and it was quite nice to be outside. But later in the afternoon, out of the blue, it started hailing. It wasn’t anything crazy big, but enough that I did worry a bit about “Toad Hollow,” which I had uncovered during my outside time, but everything seems to be in order.

It also snowed overnight, and I woke to a couple inch layer of snow covering everything, but all of that has already melted as well. It is a bit chillier today, around 50°, but bright and sunny, and my catgrass planter is absolutely loving all the sun. Lucretia has been trying her best to dig in it, but so far we’ve been winning that battle. Once the grass is established her digging won’t damage it too much, so we just need to manage this for a couple more weeks.

Today has been pretty productive already – spoke with the contractor about extending our deck and building the first cabin and the quotes are better than expected. Also spoke to the landscaper who is now scheduled to return on Monday, and talked to the septic company about plumbing the cabin.

I also finally got that Idaho Statesman subscription cancelled (I really only intended to keep it a couple months when I was running for Congress, but forgot about it and have been paying for it since). We only noticed because they raised the price and the new price threw the expected numbers off and we dug a bit. The cancellation was a bit of a pain because I no longer have access to the email address used to set the account up (I guess I could have recreated the account on my unused domain and done the cancellation online), and the “customer service” representative kept trying her hardest to sell me on how great they were for local news and events, but it was annoying that she couldn’t just accept that they don’t have access to our small town paper, and I’d spend the buck a week to pickup a physical copy and not $10.60/week for a digital edition of a paper in another state that I haven’t looked at or thought about in four years.

Anyhow…
