Even though my game was calling to me the whole time, I had a pretty productive day yesterday. I harvested tomato seed for next season’s seedling giveaway (and to send to some friends), potted a few cuttings, and setup my downstairs overwintering area for the peppers. They’ll get reduced light there and it’s typically cooler down there unless we’ve got the wood stove going. Today I need to finish collecting seed (a few other tomato varieties and cucumbers) and pot a few more cuttings.
I also started moving the kitten’s bathroom litterbox – over the next week it will inch closer and closer to the main litterbox area so we can have our bathroom back. Speaking of the kitten – she got her first taste of authority here. Last night she was being feisty and kept harassing Roscoe who finally snapped and wrestled her down and scruffed her. She cried a bit but he just held her there until she settled down and submitted. I gave him a soft pat on his butt to “tap out” for the kitten and he let her go. She seemed fine but retreated to her hiding spot for the rest of the night.
Unfortunately, that hiding spot is under the bed. We have a storage bed so there’s no easy way to access under there, and it’s a place the kitten can get in and out of easily, while the other cat’s can’t get to her… nor the humans. I did start to worry a bit after she had been hiding for over an hour so I coaxed her out with food and she seemed just fine, though she gave Roscoe a wide berth. Maynard used to hide under the bed too as he was small and lithe enough to squeeze in under there for a bit of peace.
Anyhow, those cuttings aren’t gonna pot themselves…
