Successful city run yesterday, and just had our wood stove chimney cleaned today – I’m getting close to done with winter prep. This weekend we have a delivery of firewood arriving and that should be just about it for the season. I’ll still have a few garden teardown projects (I successfully insulated the tomatoes from the frost and they are happily enjoying the sun today) but for the most part, we’ll be winter ready. I also picked up a 4’x8′ foam insulation panel – I want to make an insert for the egress window wells to help protect the hibernating toads without filling them with straw.
I got a new watch today! Well, it isn’t actually in hand yet, but I saw an article last night about the latest Omega x swatch Snoopy MoonSwatch limited release that dropped today, and thankfully I had a friend who lived close enough to the store to go in and pick one up for me. When I asked him, I was thinking he’d just pop in during the release window and try to score one for me, but no – he drove over an hour to get to the store early, waited in line for them to open, and scored one for me on release day. He mentioned that he had seen the craziness with the shoe pop-up releases and how people would camp out in line for a day or more, so he figured the best chance to get one would be going first thing today.
While my “dream watch” is the Omega “Silver Snoopy Award” Speedmaster, there isn’t a way for me to justify spending $16k on one, so this is likely the closest to that I will ever have, unless I win the lottery or somehow come into some serious “fuck you” money.
Anyhow, more to do today, and besides, all I can think about right now is my new watch…
