I’m trying to keep on track with everything, but again, I my wife isn’t here for me to operate off her cues. That said, I’ve been fairly productive already today and got a bunch of stuff moved into a new freezer I just bought.
Saturday, when I was in the city to drop my wife off at the airport, I stopped off at a butcher/ranch outlet to pick up some meat. In conversation I mentioned in passing that I needed to get a chest freezer so I could buy a half cow from them. It was one of the owners helping me and she mentioned that they recently changed their operation a bit and have several freezers they were selling at a tremendous discount.
My wife and I had been discussing it for a while but just never pulled the trigger on the decision. I told her I’d think about it, but after loading my purchases into my Jeep I went back in and bought one. I paid extra for delivery – one of their employees volunteered to bring it up the next day – but still got it for about a half to a third of the cost of buying one new.
Now we have freezer space to be able to buy a half cow, and can clear our smaller fridge-freezer out to make room for things we go through regularly. That is what I started today, and I’ve exposed frozen foods long forgotten. I’ll eat as much of that as I can this week to clear it our, assuming it is still palatable. I learned last week that even with proper storage, the food can get freezer-burned and taste bad.
Anyhow, I want to keep my momentum on this, so…
