Cultivating my own nonsense…

With the weather changing, it seems I don’t have as much to write about as I did during the warmer months. I don’t go out partying every night anymore, I keep a tight circle of close friends rather than large groups of people I could hang out with at the drop of a hat, and I am in a stable and happy relationship so I’m not running around chasing tail. While it may seem boring on the surface, I’m pretty content with everything – great wife, great cats, decent property with acreage in a rural state… yeah, even with my new-ish physical limitations and pain I could be much worse off.

When rebooting the site, I didn’t give much thought to a schedule of content – I just wanted to start writing again so I did it. I do miss social media on occasion, but mostly I miss the interactions with a handful of individual people. Social media seems to be more like the “large group of people I could hang out with” rather than “tight circle of close friends” I prefer, so I think that has been helpful in my attempts to stay away.

When going through old content from the site to prep to import to this iteration of the site, I saw an old interview I had with Douglas Adams, the author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, when he was promoting his game Starship Titanic. It was a short interview, but quite enjoyable – maybe I’ll interview or chat with interesting people and post the results here? I don’t know, but we’ll see what happens.

Gotcha Games Are Making Us All Dumber – “Gotcha games are slowly dismantling society because people no longer think critically, instead chasing sensational “gotcha” moments. I’ll admit, it’s fun to catch someone in the act if they’re actually doing something wrong, but gotcha games aren’t like that. Most of the time, what’s being called out is basic common sense to anyone who understands how things work.”

Scientists added bacteria to a reactor and achieved something that seemed impossible – “Turning a waste gas into useful fuel sounds like science fiction. In a set of careful lab trials, Norwegian researchers used thin layers of microbes in a reactor to convert carbon dioxide and hydrogen into pipeline grade methane, surpassing 96 percent purity in the output gas.”

Bank of America resets gold price target for 2026 – “According to Bank of America’s number crunchers, gold exchange-traded-fund buying increased 880% in September, attracting $14 billion in assets — an all-time high. Physical and paper buying of gold also grew quickly. Bank of America expects demand to remain strong into 2026.”
