Not a lot on my mind today – just a relief that the election bullshit is over. Well, one could hope, but the reality is that this is just getting started. Politicians are already screeching about everything – some say this should be a time for healing and forgiveness, others say heads are gonna roll. I’m not out for vengeance, and we all saw how the country functions when that’s what it’s after. We don’t need revenge, we need accountability.
We need public hearings.
Public hearings would bring transparency to the process and show that this isn’t just another duopoly revenge tour, going after political rivals. If the charges and hearings are all public, it will show the nation and the rest of the world that no one is above the law, not even the president or his cronies. I believe that simple step will do wonders for our reputation, both domestically and globally, as well as answer many burning questions.
Elon throttling Starlink/Starshield during an active war operation? Public hearings.
Pentagon Pete drone striking fishermen in the Caribbean (and a girl’s school in Iran)? Public hearings.
The Trump family working in side deals along with foreign treaties and trade agreements? Public hearings.
Friends and cronies making millions off stock/commodity trades because of a social media post? Public hearings.
The DoJ not fully releasing the Epstein files and redacting information that could be embarrassing? You guessed it, more public hearings.
This is public accountability, not seeking revenge. This is how to restore confidence in our system of government. The public needs to see that the corruption is being taken seriously, and something is being done about it.
If they do things this way, I don’t believe the Democrats can be justifiably accused of going after political enemies. “Justifiably” is carrying a lot of the weight, because we all know the accusation will be made anyway. The accusation will be there, but the public will see the truth. It isn’t that they would be picking their target then digging for dirt (as the current administration has done/been doing) – they will be looking at the piles of dirt and stating the names of those who’s hands are covered in it. A simple, but distinct difference.
I believe this to be the best course of action, and the one I hope is chosen. And while I hope this ends quickly and peacefully, I’m not delusional – I know it is going to be a drawn out mess that further divides our nation. But at least those that still support this administration after all that will have to admit they support the individual piles of dirt.
Anyhow, I hope my political mood dies down quickly – there are better things to focus my attention on that are not politicians.
