Skipped yesterday as we made a run to the city and went early. The main reason was to meet a guy at a repair shop to fix the boy’s Nintendo Switch, but it turned out that he ended up returning from the weekend late so we had to burn some time before moving on. We did a bit of shopping and stopped at a pawn shop we hadn’t been to before and scooped up a ton of DVDs for the boy to watch. The deer hit my front planters yesterday while we were out – thankfully the fence was enough of a deterrent and my garden was untouched, but they did a number on my flowers.
The weekend went pretty well. The morning of Independence Day I started smoking a tritip and then we went to town to check out the flea market, Market on Main, and the parade. In the parade was a fleet of off-road Jeep Wranglers so I caught up with them after they left the parade route – it seems they are not a formal club but are all local and I was invited to join them on some of their excursions. I’m pretty excited about that – we haven’t done much off-roading (or really any “real” off-roading) since it isn’t safe to do without another vehicle or two to help with recovery should it be necessary. That night we chowed down on tender smoked tritip before setting off the fireworks we had bought and watching the town show from our ridge. All in all, it was a pretty good day.
Sunday was a fairly lazy day, and I spent most of it recovering from the previous day’s activity and preparing myself for the next. Usually I like to have at least a couple days in between big activity, but I took my muscle relaxant and chilled as much as I could.
Anyhow, I’ve finished most of the outside stuff (it rained pretty steady over night so I didn’t really need to water much except for a couple things) and I think I’m going to take a muscle relaxant and try to recover as best I can…
