I’ve had enough of the world and its people’s mindless games…

Lucretia has a new nickname, given by the boy: “Miss Lumpy.” That came about because my wife and I kept calling her “the lump” as she would consistently hide under the covers forming a lump on our bed. We are both a bit surprised that she hasn’t warmed to him yet – both of us expecting that she would have been the first to really accept him. If Maynard was still alive, he would have been the feline buddy all summer.

We had a pretty good weekend – the city run was chaotic, but we were able to make all the planned stops, and even squeezed an extra stop at the pawn shop in. We went to dinner at a Brazilian steakhouse and all returned in various stages of meat comas – though I ended up eating something that was a bit undercooked for my gut.

I’m not sure exactly what it is, but pretty much anything pink upsets my stomach. My personal “palate preference” is medium to medium-rare, but for my body to be able to handle it, it pretty much needs to be at least medium-well. The same goes with spicy foods – my mouth likes the spice, but my guts will do everything it can to evict the offending food as quickly as possible.

We did have an extra gaming night on Saturday, mainly because by the time we returned home on Friday and settled back in, the boy only had about a half hour of gaming time, and he had been looking forward to Friday gaming night all week. I’ve been trying to keep his screen time limited, but the boy is bright and a bit sneaky. He’s allowed to use his tablet pretty much anytime to talk to his family, and uses it to talk to his sister all the time because he’s allowed to play games with her while doing so. Well, we caught him just playing games but his argument was that the call to his sister was still connected, “she just went AFK to eat dinner.”

We also got into it a bit about what games he wanted to play – I didn’t realize just how many of the games I have are “Rated M: Mature” and thought most were “Rated T: Teen.” That argument spawned when he wanted to play some age-inappropriate games (think Grand Theft Auto) and when told he couldn’t because of the rating, he argued that the ones he had been playing were also “M.” So after a conversation with his mother and step-father, we approved a handful of “M” games for him, but he seems to be taken with Portal 2 right now anyway.

Anyhow, things to do…
