Why can’t we not be sober?

I remembered one of the reasons I didn’t want to take the opiates – I like them too much. I did end up taking one on Friday and had a relatively pain-free day, but wasn’t much more than a bump on a log. The next day I couldn’t help but want to take another – too soon for a physical addiction, but the psychological draw to have another day without the pain was strong.

I didn’t take another one, and while there was more pain and discomfort than on Friday, I do think the choice to take one and have a chill day was beneficial and I’m in less pain today than I was last week. The levels are still higher than the “baseline” pain but hopefully this is a sign that whatever happened to spike it is calming down and I’ll be back to more manageable levels soon.

Because of my exasperated pain levels we didn’t go to the city for Valentine’s on Saturday, but went to one of the local eateries in town for a steak dinner. It was pretty good for what you can get in town, but man, do I want my friend to move out here and open a restaurant.

Lucretia went into her first heat as well. We actually just discussed taking her to get fixed, and my wife had even called the vet to check appointment availability this week, but now we need to wait. She has been wandering around the house chirping and trilling, and has become much more loving and demanding for attention. Her playtime with Roscoe has changed as well – instead of fighting back, she submits much more readily. Poor Roscoe doesn’t know what to do – he’ll still mount and scruff her, but instead of her wrestling back, she just raises her butt in the air and chirps. He always looks confused when that happens. Thankfully she’s not trying to get outside or crying to be let out. She’ll sit in the window and make noises at the birds or bunnies, but I guess since there aren’t any toms outside coming around, she isn’t wailing to be let out.

I played and finished Stray on Friday and then wrapped up the rest of the achievements and speed run to 100% it Saturday. It’s a fun game to explore, though I wish they had a mode that let you just run around with your other feline friends and do cat things. But speaking of cat things, Lucretia is now here begging for attention so…
