I skipped yesterday because my thoughts were on a topic that I figured nobody would be interested in. But last night I was thinking about it all and reminded myself that while this is a public site, its intent is to be more of a journal for my thoughts and other random writing.
So word of warning, there’s going to be a lot about Libertarian Party inside baseball for the next couple weeks. Montana has it’s officer convention coming up and I’ve been selected as an at-large member for a county, so I will need to attend. There are lots of moving parts right now and frankly, the board was dangerously close to missing the notice requirements and likely only reevaluated what proper notice was after I told the one who called me that my first order of business would be to challenge the validity of the convention since she had argued to me that posting the event on their website constituted proper notice. Not but an hour or so later, an email went out fulfilling the notice requirement, beating the deadline by a couple of days.
Now you could say I was being pedantic, but there’s a reason parliamentary procedure exists, and that is to help organizations keep order. Our bylaws and Robert’s Rules of Order are what sets the rules, and members as well as the board must follow them.
There’s a lot more going on than just those few paragraphs, but I’ll get to that later. I need to work on another proposed amendment to bring our state into compliance with the national party bylaws, and eliminate the possibility of our disaffiliation.
