So I lost the fight yesterday and the pre-cold is a full on cold now. My symptoms are much less severe than my wife’s, but I think that’s because I have my usual “post-travel” regimen I stick to because of travel bugs just like this. We’re both pretty miserable right now so we plan to just sleep it off as much as possible.
Being the least sick, I decided to make a big batch of spaghetti that we can eat over the next couple days – and promptly burned my hand from an oil splash. Thankfully the oil wasn’t fully heated, but the splash did cover a good portion of my hand. I got my hand under running water in less than a second, and have been applying aloe vera to it since. It is certainly uncomfortable right now, but it could be worse and I’m used to being uncomfortable.
I’m usually not big on taking drugs for fever/pain/etc (drugs are supposed to be for fun!) but the ones I do take are mainly to be comfortable enough to sleep. NyQuil is one, but my favorite is, and has always been, Children’s Dimetapp. Yep, that purple stuff for kids – it clears my sinuses and and knocks me right out. I know they say it’s “grape” flavor, but I’ve never had a single grape that tastes like that. I don’t know when that flavor was labeled “grape” but it isn’t – it taste’s like purple.
Anyhow the Dimetapp is making me a bit loopy and I am gonna nap.
