It was a warm spring night in the ol’ town hall…

Spring is officially here (though it has, for the most part, felt like Spring for the past month), and it’s time to get my seeds started and start growing. I started a bit over the weekend, none of the big projects, but I had picked up a large planter (on rollers) to use for catgrass. Since Pearl absolutely loves sitting in the grass and has broken some of the smaller windowsill planters, and Lucretia seems to really enjoy stepping in plants and digging, I thought a new, large planter for catgrass might be nice for them this year. That’s been filled and planted and I’ve been rolling it outside to get sun during the day, but I need a better solution for keeping Lucretia out of it at night – I’ve put a flattened cardboard box over the top as sort of a cover, but she seems to know where there’s dirt and keeps getting into it.

The Amish contractor finished up everything on Friday and it’s better than hoped. The steel screen door is great, and we’ve had the front door open every day since its installation. Additionally, my shed now has a sturdy secured door, my generator has a little “doghouse” to shelter it from the elements, our steps no longer feel like a trampoline and now have a right-side handrail, and my composter now has a stand so it can live off the deck but still be easily accessible. He did such good work, we are looking at having him repair and extend our deck, and build the first cabin for the property.

I’m not sure if the ground will be prepared in time for me to get my trees in this season, but I’m still going to try.

Anyhow, my wife just returned from town so…
