I don’t have much time today – I have a neighbor stopping by shortly to select some plants to take, and another to come by to help me till our field. Because the property is at the top of a ridge, pretty much any good soil is gone and has washed downhill – my plan is to plant clover and till it back into the ground a couple times a year to help build up some good soil again.
That said – the plant babies are ready to leave home! I’m hoping to have all the “special picks” done in the next day or so and then take all the remaining ones down to the local hardware store to give away to people. It is my hope that I will be able to get others involved doing the same thing, and we’ll all be able to make sure that everyone in town has a garden if they want. I may try and sell a few at the swap meet to cover the expenses (soil, pots, etc) but really wouldn’t need to sell that many – at most enough to cover $75-100 – but might not do that until next year since I really wanted to have everything ready to distribute before Memorial Day weekend and the next swap meet is on Saturday.
Anyhow, lots of things to do, and I may need to make a trip to town today as well so it’s time for me to get moving.
