About the Cult
work in progress
The Cult of Darian started in high school with a handful of gals saying they were in “Darian’s cult” and wore purple laces in their boots to represent “Darian Supremacy” – as a shot at the skinhead kids who wore white laces in their boots signifying “white supremacy.” About the time I was thinking about the site, an old friend reminded me about my old “cult” and the idea took off. When crew from the hometown radio station started visiting and talking about the site on air, it really boomed.
Since the initial launch, there have been Cult parties, road trips, and lots of meetups. During the years it was online, I made friends all over the world. The Cult is about connecting with each other and having real conversations. One can make real friends through social media, but the algorithms promote glossy interactions rather than deep conversations.
