Cats got they hands out wantin’ somethin’ from me…

My god, that kitten is a poop machine. It seems she can crap twice her entire body weight or more daily – she produces so much shit, she should chair a Libertarian committee. At lease Roscoe taught her how to cover up her leavings when she’s done in the litter box. She has settled in to the point that she knows this is her new home, so she doesn’t need our reassurances all the time any longer and doesn’t purr constantly like she did the first 48-hours of her residency – we now have to work for her purrs. Her name is still tentatively “Lucretia,” and though it still isn’t 100% finalized we are taking her to the vet today for her first kitten checkup and will need to provide her name for their records and for the microchip.

Most of our cat time these days has been consoling them and trying to make sure they feel secure. The two older ones have been extra needy since Maynard passed, and they are both constantly demanding pets, snuggles, or treats – we are having to cut back on the treats as we don’t want them to get fatter than they already are. The kitten isn’t that bad as she’s currently experiencing an abundance that she hasn’t experienced before. And while she still eats a lot (and poops it back out) she doesn’t gorge herself like it’s the last time she’ll have a full belly as she did when she first arrived. She isn’t that interested in the catnip, but the others don’t seem to mind.

Which reminds me – I need to get my rooting catnip and tomato cuttings into soil.

The humans in the house are still reeling from Maynard’s absence, and the sense of loss was exacerbated yesterday when I had some photos printed of him to choose for his urn. None of them will work right for the urn (I printed them on a whim at the store and didn’t have the proper measurements with me) but we now have several photos of him around the house near his favorite spots.

That’s about it for today as I need to finish getting ready and head out to the vet. I also need to drive to the city tomorrow to take my wife to the airport for her trip and to exchange my empty Ghost of Yotei case for an actual copy so I don’t know if I’ll be writing and posting anything. There was also supposed to be our “Special Convention” for the state Libertarian Party affiliate this weekend, but proper notice wasn’t sent out so if it actually happens at this point, it will be another violation. Personally, I’m kinda glad that it shouldn’t happen as I have other things I’d rather do on Saturday anyway.
