Nothing can stop me now, ’cause I don’t care anymore…

I have a kitten laying across my chest and her position is making it difficult to type. Now that we’ve decided to adopt her into our family, even as we continue to mourn the absence of Maynard, we have a lot of things to address around the house. We need to start moving her makeshift litterbox in the bathroom closer to the “grown-up box” to get her to start using that one – though we may need to design a small ramp for her to be able to climb in easily. We also need to kitten-proof some areas and make power cords appear less appealing.

This is the first time I’ve had to deal with these sort of tasks in quite a while – since the litter that CJ “fostered” that included Pearl. This is also my wife’s first little kitten – Maynard was about 6 months old when we adopted him, so she never had the experience of these little balls of fluff scaling her leg at high speed nor being ambushed from the top of a curtain they climbed.

I now have two cats laying on me (though Pearl has curled up under my arm and stretched her leg across my belly) and the third is curled up holding my foot. I believe it is safe to say that the adult cats have finally accepted that the kitten is not an intruder and is going to be sticking around. Last night the cats were all laying on the bed, and I scooted he kitten close to Roscoe as he slept, and instinctively he reached out and pulled her in closer. He even gave her a few grooming licks on her head before settling down and going back to sleep. He’s going to be a great cat dad and role model for the kitten, though Pearl seems less interested in interacting with the little one.

Moving on, I’ve had to deal with more Libertarian Party bullshit but I’m doing my best to put that behind me. It seems they are staying the course on violating bylaws and procedure, so I resigned from a pointless committee. It really wouldn’t be difficult to destroy the state affiliate completely – they only have about $12k in the bank which would evaporate if forced to defend against a lawsuit. So the safest thing to do for the affiliate and the board would be to disaffiliate from the national body. Then they could do whatever the hell they wanted – go ahead and endorse so-called “Liberty Republicans” who backtrack and break their word the moment they are elected. It would remove the barriers and constraints on their activities as well as reduce potential liability.

Anyhow, I do plan on getting back to my newsfeeds and posting interesting tidbits again – but it’s been nice not filtering through all the clickbait and AI slop and just spending time with people (and felines) that matter.
