We have a new visitor to Toad Hollow – a mouse. We had a lot of wind yesterday afternoon/evening and a post was blown over into the window well, so I’m not sure if it got in climbing down that, or if it used the “toad tunnels” that the toads use to get in and out. The poor thing was being stalked by two of the toads, though I don’t believe they could actually eat it, who kept chasing it around taking shots. I placed a board in there for the mouse to use as a ramp to get out, and hopefully it finds it way.
We are planning on taking the boy to the pool this evening if it is still warm – my wife has some friends who take their kids there for the evening session. My wife and her friends will walk in the park around the pool area, and I can relax with a comfortable folding chair we’ll bring this time.
We were also discussing Father’s Day and our anniversary – we’d usually go to a steakhouse or something (our favorite being Wolf Lodge Inn in Coeur de Alene before it burned down) but the boy wants to do something for Father’s Day and the Brazilian steakhouse has a special this month where kids 10 and under eat free, and are featuring prime rib over the weekend. So it is likely we are going to go there with the boy for Father’s Day and need to figure out where we want to go for our anniversary – right now it looks like it’ll be Mexican food.
Anyhow, I have some food prep to do – I told the boy about twice-baked potatoes and he is eager to try them. It is a bit of a process so I want to get everything staged so it is just a matter of sticking them back in the oven for a bit when it is time to eat…
