Way late today, but we had to rush out early to get to the city, make a couple stops, then take my wife to the airport, before I had to run more errands. Everything went smoothly, and I got everything accomplished that I had planned, though I did need to stop at another hardware store for the pump, as Home Depot only had large submersible pumps.
While I was getting my hair cut (and I feel like a couple pounds have been shed from my head and face) I ended up in a conversation about all the bullshit Fender is pulling on other guitar makers with a guy wearing a PRS t-shirt. He let me know about an open jam held monthly in the city and I mentioned trying to get some live music (other than gospel and country) performed up in our small town.
He gave me his card aaaaaand… he’s a cop.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, though I tend to just not care to self-censor myself in ways that I need to when I hang out with them. That said, when I was working with and selling products to them (and attending their conferences and conventions), their “humor” was much more off-color than mine. I remember at a tactical training event there was a raffle, and one of the prizes was a large gear bag – the guy who won immediately commented on how it looked like it could hold a whole body and keep his trunk clean. I mean, my humor can get that dark… but I’m not a fucking cop.
Anyhow, he left, I finished up and went to the music shop across the street, and guess who was there – the cop. We chatted a bit more, made the jokes about law enforcement surveillance, and eventually went our separate ways (as I was drooling over the Steve Harris signature P-Bass – I have the second one released, this was the first one from the 90s). He seemed a nice enough guy, and I’ll probably reach out and go to at least one of the open jams.
I neglected to mention that it was our state primary yesterday, and congratulations are in order for a friend of mine who won their race and will be the favored duopoly candidate so likely to win. Seems things turn out better for people who walk away from our state Libertarian party – even the Libertarian candidate the party endorsed lost to the candidate they were trying to ice out…. chew on that bitches.
Anyhow, it’s late, I’ve been nibbling as I’ve been writing and need to actually sit and eat…
