Today is much sunnier than it was yesterday, but it is pretty chilly out. To keep the terrorist out of my plant babies, we secured them in our room overnight (like when she was spayed) which contributed to a lack of quality sleep and the exhaustion I am feeling today.
The contractor is coming tomorrow to work on the deck and hopefully finish the project, though we did decide we wanted to add a couple deliverables to things, so we might have to wait a bit longer for things to be wrapped up. We are both quite excited to have this finished and be able to let the cats come out and sit with us.
While the sun is out during the day, it frosted last night and we will have both cold and frost (and possibly even snow on Sunday) so I had to bring in all the plants and cover Toad Hollow with the insulating foam to keep all the new plants alive. It is a bit irritating, but I wanted to give the plants a bit more time to root and spread this year. Last year I put them in later in the season, which turned out to be just in time for the bugs to attack and eat before they could get established, and long before the first toads started arriving to gobble them up.
Since I knew it would be chilly today, I had thought today would be the day I finally tackled those pending emails I still need to respond to, but having only gotten a couple hours of sleep last night, I think I’m going to take a nap…
