All the rushing and corner-cutting with my health routine this past week caught up to me on Friday. We were still able to get most of the spring cleaning projects done, but it wasn’t the most pleasant state to be in, and took longer than I had hoped. Because of that, I did not have the opportunity to sit outside and paint, but this week should be pretty nice so I’m hoping my health will cooperate and I’ll have some time to do so.
I ran out of my own personal supply of beard oil last night, but the last ingredient should be arriving tomorrow, so I’ll have to make sure to set aside time to immediately blend a batch. The delivery is taking longer because I made sure that all my sources were organic products. I’m not sure if or how it would make a difference, but I figure it is worth the extra few pennies per bottle to avoid possible chemical remnants that could cause skin irritation or other issues. If I end up selling the product, I am not planning on marketing it as organic – I’d have to pay the government for permission to use the “organic” label, but can avoid that by just noting it in the ingredients list, and can provide copies of my supplier’s organic certification. I don’t think that will be much of an issue if I’m just doing small batch sales, and have no plans to expand this to anything really big.
Spring is definitely here – our woodpecker is back. He seems to enjoy banging on the roof at every opportunity. I’ve been told that spraying vinegar on the roof will keep him away, but I’m not sure I want to do that just yet.
Not sure when the field compost project will be complete – the big loader at the dump is out of commission right now, though they say it is supposed to be repaired and back this week. They are not willing to fill a dump truck with 50 tons of compost with their small loader, so I’m in the “hurry up and wait” phase of the project. I’m getting a bit frustrated because I wanted to be prepping the area for trees, but we might be getting a bit too late for that this year at this point. The compost isn’t the best, but it will still cut several years off the time I’ll need to take revitalizing the soil so it is still worth it to me. I should talk to some neighbors with horses too…
Anyhow, things to do – I need to run to town today and visit the hardware store…
