My wife returns today, I just need to drive to the city to pick her up tonight. I’m glad that she’ll be back home, and that we don’t have any more travel plans for several months.
While I’ve felt less of a desire to write through this medium, I have been writing more on a simple notepad. That said, my penmanship these days is atrocious. I’ve apparently developed my own script, a combination of print and cursive, that often ends up looking like It’s gotten so bad that sometimes I can barely read and understand what thought I was attempting to preserve. I think that is partially because I am trying to write so fast to get the idea on paper before I forget the thought – hell, I sometimes even skip words as my hand struggles to keep up with my brain.
This is something I need to consciously address. I think I’m going to start handwriting letters and such, and force myself to take my time to make sure the script looks nice rather than just merely being legible. I was gifted a beautiful dip pen recently and want to use that, though I’ll need to get myself a blotter to ensure the writing doesn’t smear and end up a mess. We also recently ordered an embosser and wax seal with the sigil we designed for ourselves for our wedding. We plan to use the embosser to mark letters and things (like our holiday letter that I swear is going out soon, hopefully next week) and, well, I’ve always liked wax seals so I got that too. Eventually I want to have a ring made to use in that manner – maybe I’ll make it myself when I get the casting centrifuge set up.
