When the only light at the end of the tunnel is another train…

I got a lot done on the book research/pricing project over the weekend but still have a few boxes to finish going through. It was interesting to see some of the pricing differences between now and the time I originally priced some of them – some went up and some went down. When I had originally acquired the collection, there were many that were not available and I could not find a pricing history, but now it seems that a lot more people are selling books online and some of those books are now available.

Didn’t get much outside stuff done over the weekend, but I’ll need to address those things this week. The weather is turning and it is starting to get chilly so it is time to pull the small window AC unit and put it away, along with finishing up the garden tear-down and prep for next season. I’ve got some pots on order and am planning to try to overwinter my peppers and see if that helps me boost production next season – I would think so since because of our short growing season it felt like a lot of the time they should have been producing, they were still maturing.

On Friday afternoon I got a call from one of the insurance companies I reached out to, and it seems my concerns are valid. Deliberate violations of the bylaws could be considered a “wrongful act” and wouldn’t be protected by D&O/board insurance should someone sue the board over the issue. That means even if the board approves acquiring D&O insurance, I’d still need the additional umbrella policy to ensure my own coverage. My wife and I have been looking into better coverage anyway, but it is still irritating that we may have to pony up additional money to cover me should the board continue its flagrant violations of our bylaws.

I did have high hopes that I could actually help get the party on track with their bylaws and such, but is it worth it? Likely not, since we could have $1B of D&O coverage that would do absolutely nothing since the board seems to stumble from “wrongful act” to “wrongful act.”

Anyhow, more books to research and stuff outside to do…
