13.8 – that’s how many pounds of cucumbers I was able to harvest yesterday, and there are more to pick in a few more days. Now I just need my chili peppers to finish ripening so I can make some spicy pickles.
I’ve been thinking about the purpose of this site. When I first started it, the internet was a much different place, and I was a very different person. Posting about my daily shenanigans, parties, or girls was more entertaining. My roommates and I had even wired our house with webcams to broadcast our parties online – hell, we even got sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink at the time. But these days, I’m quite a bit older and my lifestyle is vastly different from what it was like then.
I no longer want to go out to a bar every night – hell, I barely drink at all anymore. I’m happily married so I no longer have the horror stories of chasing or dating different women. I no longer do the crazy adrenaline seeking activities like skydiving, nor do I chase the next rush. Neighbors still drop by here and there, but it isn’t like just opening the garage and kicking back as an impromptu block party spontaneously forms.
These days I’m much more content with a quiet life, living secluded in the woods, maintaining my garden, and spending time with my wife. When I rebooted this site, my intent was to have a creative outlet though there really doesn’t seem like there is much to talk about anymore. I can keep posting about my ongoing battles with the local deer and how my garden is doing, but fall is around the corner and soon it will be time to tear everything out and prepare for next season.
But is that a proper creative outlet? Talking about my garden and rural life? Who want’s to read about that? Maybe if I posted gardening tips and things like that, it could be a successful draw to the site, but that wasn’t the purpose of this whole experiment. When I first started the site, it was an experiment of sorts. Search engine optimization wasn’t really a thing yet, so it was all experimentation to see how it all worked. The site evolved into an E/N site which in turn evolved into “blogging.” So that’s probably what will be happening moving forward – I’ll be posting whatever I like at the time and the site will be in a constant state of evolution.
Who knows what will be next, though I do have a few ideas…
