Almost, sweet talk, caffeine…

One of my goddamn phones shit the bed again yesterday. It was my daily driver too – the one with my main phone line and email. Thankfully it is still within the return/exchange period, but now I’m relegated to using a laptop until I can get it exchanged.

I also realized yesterday that a full can of the energy drink Celsius, even if drank in the morning, will screw up my sleeping at night. I drank one about 9AM yesterday and couldn’t get to sleep until close to 4AM this morning. I’ve mostly cut caffeine out of my diet altogether, and usually only consume some if I need to be up early, but I need to rethink that as it throws the whole next day off… unless of course I consume more caffeine.

So I’ve been dragging hard today – hopefully I’ll be able to fall asleep early, but I’m fighting the urge to take a nap. I got most of my garden chores already done, and now is about the time I’d be winding down for the afternoon, but I think I’ll work on a few more things in the yard so I don’t succumb to that desire to nap.

Song of the Day: Caffeine by Faith No More

Russia Did NOT Invade Ukraine – “Seeing the writing on the wall and unable to avoid it, Russia gave official recognization to the Donbas republics.  This allowed Donetsk and Luhansk  to request Russia to come to their aid, which Putin did at the last minute eight years too late.  As Russia was invited into Donbas, Russia did not even invade Donbas, much less Ukraine.”

Armed Drones to Be Deployed at Schools To Stop Mass Shooters – “The drones, stored in secure boxes on campus, can be deployed within five seconds of silent panic buttons being activated. The devices—operated remotely by a team in Texas—provide constant live video feeds to first responders and, in some cases, fire nonlethal projectiles to delay or incapacitate an assailant.”

Our new robot overlords are algorithmically auditing you – “And for those who think I’m being overdramatic, let me remind you that surveillance doesn’t kick down the door. It slips in unnoticed, makes itself at home, and rewrites the rules while you’re still digesting your dinner.”

Some pro athletes keep getting better as they age − neuroscience can explain how they stay sharp – “Increasingly, research shows that the systems that support high performance – from motor control to stress regulation, to recovery – are not fixed traits but trainable capacities.”
