So I had my grandmother’s funeral yesterday. I am really not a big fan of funerals. It’s not that I have a problem with death (death is just nature’s way of telling you to slow down), but it’s more that I prefer to deal with it in my own way. I guess it was nice to get together with some of my extended family, but still… it could have been a lot better.

I guess because it was small it was pretty unstructured. There were times of casual conversation and times of uncomfortable silence. It was emotionally draining. I’d prefer to be left alone in my own thoughts… but I guess people deal with things in their own ways.

But then there is the pushing. Is it that hard to understand that I deal with things differently? Perhaps I just want some peace and quiet to think? Maybe I just want some “down time” where I’m not being bugged to do one thing or another. No, it might not be the way that others deal with things, but why is it so hard to comprehend that it’s the way that I deal with things? You may not like it that I withdraw, but that’s how I deal with things. Leave me alone. It would be nice to have just one day without being harassed about something.
