First off, Happy Birthday to Kendall<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyhow, this evening I’m flying across the country to Washington D.C. I’m taking a week off of work to do this so the escape will be refreshing… however there is a catch. Normally a trip like this would seem to be alot of fun, except for the fact that my father and I are going to drive her car back to California for her. This means that we have only a few days in D.C. to explore then it’s a long drive across the country.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now don’t get me wrong… it’s still going to be alot of fun and I’ll get to see a lot of places that I haven’t seen before. I’ll be taking photos along the way and stopping off at any Starbucks\/T-Mobile Hotspot that I can. (Must… have… broadband… must… get… fix…) So at least I’ll have my laptop and internet… for the most part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far it looks like I’ll be spending a few days in D.C. The leaving for Philadelphia on Monday. Monday evening or Tuesday morning we’ll hit New York City and then it’s off to Chicago. Time permitting I’d like to stop off in Minneapolis, Minnesota to urinate on the Target Center, home of the T-Wolves. More likely than not, we’ll skip that and head on to Mount Rushmore, and then Yellowstone. Rounding out the trip will be Salt Lake City and then back home to Sacramento. Just for giggles I may pop out to San Francisco to be able to say I drove a coast to coast road trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anybody know of anything interesting that I should stop off and see along the way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interesting tidbits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Olympic athletes are being warned to NOT wave our flag and be proud of our nation?<\/a> “Fear of a hostile reaction has led US officials to warn its participants in the Games against overtly patriotic displays.” Excuse me? You mean it’s not okay for our athletes to be proud of our colors? “It’s not business as usual for American athletes. If a Kenyan or a Russian grabs their national flag and runs round the track or holds it high over their heads, it might not be viewed as confrontational. Where we are in the world right now, an American athlete doing that might be viewed in another manner.” If we are such horrible people that our athletes waving our flag is offensive, then perhaps we shouldn’t go to the Olympic games at all. Oh, and if we aren’t going to the games, then perhaps we shouldn’t put any money towards them either. Oh, and while we are at it, then we might as well cancel the television contracts and the millions of dollars that go to the Olympic Committee for broadcast rights. To sum this up in two words… “Fuck them.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Say what!? Non-citizens being allowed to vote?<\/a> “A scattered movement growing across the country would buck decades of conventional wisdom and allow non-citizens the right to vote in local elections, a move that proponents say would give immigrants the ability to directly impact government in their communities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
