What a day! Yea, I’m posting on a weekend… but don’t get used to it. I’m just catching up for some missed time and getting some photos up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We landed at Dulles International about 6:30 AM Friday, where the first thing I felt that I had to do was find a wireless access point and check email and run through my usual morning ritual. After getting all our luggage I plugged in but lo and behold… my power supply wasn’t working again. Since I had done the work on the plug previously, I knew that it had to be my shitty soldering that gave out finally, but why did it have to be when I am across the country on a week long trip!?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Well putting that challenge aside for the time being, we got our rental car, had breakfast, then checked into our hotel. After dropping all our luggage off, I started calling electronic repair shops to see if anyone could repair my plug. After calling several shops and not having any luck, I was fortunate enough to be able to get ahold of a shop that could help. The owner, Tom, told me that while his shop didn’t normally do that sort of work, he would let me come in and use their tools to repair it myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Most excellent!<\/p>\n\n\n\n So we get down to the shop and I show Tom the problem. Once the guy took a look at it and saw my previous attempt at repair he took pity on me and offered to do the repair himself. What would have taken me probably an hour of cussing and swearing took him about 10 minutes. I offered him money, but he wouldn’t accept so I have decided to send him “thank you” postcards from along the way home. There still are some people in this world who are nice just to be nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That challenge overcome we cruised downtown to see some of the sights. I’m not going to go into all the details here, but one thing we did do downtown is walk the D.C. pentagram. Take a look at a map of D.C. and you’ll see what I mean. I do believe that I walked more in that one day than I have in months. Rounding out the day was the Arlington National Cemetary and then back to the hotel to recover and prepare for the Smithsonian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’m uploading the current photos to the gallery for your perusal<\/a>… enjoy!
