I got sloppy on Saturday and got stung by a wasp. I had been extra cautious this season to avoid the wasps, but apparently not quite enough. My finger is swollen and knuckle is throbbing. I’ve been using that Bug Bite Thing (basically a syringe) to extract the interstitial fluid from the sting site, but it keeps swelling. I guess I need to put out more bait traps for them next year.

I pulled all the sheets down off the plants, but I don’t think they are going to make it. Three days of that cold snap was just a bit too much, I think. I probably should have gotten a waterproof tarp to throw over everything as well – the rain wet everything before the cold froze it. Hopefully they plants will be able to limp along for the luffa and gourds to be ready.

Other than that, it’s a bit slow around here. I still need to respond to a few more emails, but the priority right now is preparing for my wife’s trip. She’ll be gone for a week, and we want the house in a state I can manage solo. Most of that is prepping the things I have difficulty with, like bringing firewood downstairs. Other things, I have some workarounds, but the firewood has been a challenge. I considered a system to lower the wood into the basement room through the Toad Hollow egress window, but that would fill the space and prevent it from being used as its intended purpose in an emergency.

Anyhow, I have more prep to do, and need to put more vinegar on this sting…
