Up early today to take Lucretia to the vet, but on the way down the hill we got a call that the vet was sick today and had to move her appointment to next Tuesday. So now I’m just tired and have a kitten that’s still a bit cranky and pissed about being shoved into a carrier and taken for a drive. It was 5\u00b0<\/strong>F when we started down the hill, and is supposed to stay cold through the weekend, but Monday we are supposed to be back up in the 50s. I guess we’ll put that firewood to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chatted with a couple old friends yesterday evening – one who was celebrating a birthday (and visiting NOLA no less), and the other, just some idiot. I guess I should have capitalized that – Some Idiot – the guy who ran the site of the same name back in the day. I had tried to reach out to him when I visited CA but he was already traveling around the world. I was good catching up with both of them, though the time differences threw me off a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m hoping that the snow melts quickly (I believe it should over the weekend or early next week) so I can get my tree locations measured and the ground prepped. Primarily, I need to get the holes dug and the soil amended so I won’t end up having problems with the juveniles rooting and establishing themselves. I figure if I dig at least 5 feet down to loosen and amend the soil, that should be sufficient for the tree to establish. I need to also consider pulling and setting aside the clay that’s dug up so I can use that to line the pond when I get that dug out in a few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyhow, a nap is calling me…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
