Another cool day today, but it is supposed to “warm up” next week and be in the 50s, so I’ll be able to finish the egress window well insulation then. Because it is still chilly and overcast, it felt like a perfect time to make some stew, and I started it earlier in the crock pot, so I can smell it as I type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our neighbors gave us a bunch of carrots from their garden the other day and I used some in the curry and the rest in the stew I just started. I was surprised at the difference in the flavor from store-bought carrots – I didn’t think they would be that much different but they are much sweeter and more flavorful. They also gave us some giant beets that I need to decide how I am going to prepare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have a phone “date” with an old friend on Monday, and I’m looking forward to catching up. The friend who reached out when I rebooted the site sparked the desire to reconnect with other old friends and I’ve started reaching out to some. This one is a friend from high school, and while we have kept in touch over the years, it hasn’t been very consistent and while we’ve texted, we haven’t had an actual conversation in probably close to 20 years. We ran in similar circles back then and hooked up on occasion, but there’s nothing untoward with the desire to reconnect – my wife knows all about her and our backstory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s something I appreciate about my wife – she knows all my secrets and past, uhh, indiscretions, but looks beyond all that and sees me as who I am now. There are still the occasional hiccups and we’ll butt heads over things here or there, but in the end, she accepts me for me ( and I, her) and overall, we get along well. That, and we adopted the Scandinavian blanket method (a blanket for each of us instead of the constant battle for covers all night).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anyhow, I need to distract myself from the smell of stew in the Crock-Pot…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
