No, not like that; she’s on a trip back in occupied territory, and whenever she or I have to travel alone it is a stark reminder of how much I depend on her. Not just for companionship and conversation, but also for many of my timing cues.

I was diagnosed with ADD (yes, no “H” – that’s how it was back in the olden days) in the mid 90s, given drugs (which at the time was pretty swell as I may have self medicated a bit in high school), and sent on my way. Eventually a “new and improved” drug hit the market and they changed my prescription to that – but that one fogged my brain and didn’t produce the desired results so I just stopped taking it and dealt with things on my own.

Really it was less “dealing with” that it was “embracing the chaos.”

Eventually I wanted to settle into a more “normal” existence, went back to a doctor, and got back on a medication to help manage things. This went on for quite a few years but for multiple reasons, unreliable supply and amplified pain (I don’t think it really amplified the pain, but the medication focused my attention and my attention was already drawn to the pain) after my injury among them, I stopped taking it again and have been managing things without medication.

This is why I get long winded and ramble on so easily and tangent subjects from one thing to another without the appearance of any rhyme or reason though I have reasons and connections of the topics in my head but can skip over some of them when trying to explain so it seems all erratic but trust me it’s not I know what I’m trying to say even if you don’t, but that’s not the point I’m… oh look a squirrel!

Anyhow, the squirrel is gone so back to the topic at hand – my wife and my timing cues. I can get hyper-focused on a particular thing and just not realize that there are other things needing attention. While around my wife, her actions cue me for certain tasks like, “it’s time to go to bed,” or “it’s time to make breakfast,” or even, “it’s time to put on pants and be a human.”

In fact, she just called and we talked about this very thing – apparently she goes through the same thing when I have to travel without her.

That’s it for today, I had more on the topic but… SQUIRREL!

Interesting Tidbits

None today, I was too busy chasing squirrels…

Late today, but my wife left me and I don’t know what to do.
